Once you have narrowed your list to two or three companies ask for samples of similar products the factory has made in the recent past. Many companies will send you a free sample of their work.
Ask for a list of local references. Interview at least three or four about their experiences with this provider. Ask the references about their experiences with the supplier. Ask about the quality of the work provided, timeliness of delivery, and responsiveness to complaints or issues.
If you have a prototype send it to the foreign trade company and have the company make a couple samples for your review. This can usually be done inexpensively and is the only way you can assure yourself of the quality of the work, and the materials.
It is highly recommended you visit the factory before you conclude a contract. If you can work it into your budget a visit to the factory will give you the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with the company’s management.
