When you work with others,
you should look for 3 qualities:
integrity, intelligence & energy.
But if they don’t have the first,
the other 2 will kill you.

Why does import-export business appeal to you so much?
Import-export businesses appeal to me because it draws people’s attention back to the basics of your ideal customer target. When I think of the trading with this ‘ideal customer target’ across borders, it makes me care about building culturally fit businesses that make a difference in an ideal customer’s life, which can be a fun, exciting and unpredictable ‘business adventure’ itself. There’s even more fun working with these web driven import-export business models.
When you are not busy with your business, what do you like to do? I will read, read and read like a geek. I thirst for ‘applied business’ knowledge in the field of education, web and technology. Of course, watching comedies and action-packed movies with special effects like ‘Lord of the Rings’ is my stress reliever. And, karaoke and/or playing my classical guitar (which I have missed doing them ever since I was caught up with my reading time).
What are the 3 things that make you tick? (1) The sense of achievement when I match the right business person to collaborate on bigger goals. This is partly driven by my fear when I ask myself, ‘Have I done enough with my life?’ By ‘doing enough’, I mean, have I made a difference? If the answer is yes, I will die a contented man and be remembered forever in my own online memorial. If not, I think I’ll die of shame. And, I strongly believe that a contented life is measured by how much value you can add to other peoples’ life. (2) The support of my Australian and foreign business associates, family and friends meant a lot to me when I strive to make a difference in other people’s life in a foreign land (3) The ability to give back to the community with interesting trade deals like social shipping (giving a % back to the community for every purchase orders)
What’s your favourite country? My homeland Malaysia because I can simply survive with a pair of slippers when I go out because I don’t have to experience extreme weathers like summer and winter!
What’s your favourite food? Anything that I don’t have to cook myself. Something simple and presentable like sushi rolls or seafood platter works like charm!
If you could host a dinner with any three people, who would you choose and why? Eric Clapton, so he could give me a guitar lesson after dinner.
If given the chance to skip work for a day, how would you spend the entire day? I would travel with friends by taking the first flight from Adelaide to Melbourne, shop and tour for 5 hours then fly from Melbourne to Sydney, and shop and tour for 5 hours, and Sydney back to Adelaide. It’s like getting everything I want on my wishlist within a tight schedule, and make myself feel like a millionaire. |
